Our Vision

At Organic Soup Kitchen, we see a communitywide effort to end hunger. One person at a time, one meal at a time, we use wholesome, organic foods as medicine to reverse, prevent, and reduce heart-related illnesses and other disease either brought on by or aggravated by a poor food-quality diet.  

Our no-waste philosophy means that we reach out to the Santa Barbara community to find food that is not being used. With food that would otherwise go to waste, we create delicious, healthy, organic meals for anyone facing financial challenges and otherwise unable to feed themselves and their families.  

We currently serve 300 meals per week;  that’s 1,200 meals per month. These numbers will increase as we launch our mobile soup unit, dispatching 3 Organic Soup trucks into the areas of Santa Barbara where people can be serviced directly and without gathering crowds.

Eventually, our soups and breads will be freshly prepared by graduate students of our OSK Culinary Crown Program, a certified food course we are designing to educate at-risk youths and the homeless with the culinary, professional, and life skills they need to gain employment within the food service industry.

OSK Catering is a full-service catering company, providing top-notch catering and contract foods service to clients. In addition, it serves as an employment development program for graduates of the OSK Culinary Crown Program.

Organic Soup Kitchen looks to create a more sustainable future. We partner with local farmers and businesses to reduce waste, and our goal is to increase our sustainability by generating at least 50% of our own revenue. We will do this by commercially packaging and selling our organic soups and other organic food products to sell at Farmers Markets and other local stores.

We wish to create sustainability and a sense of community where people can come and be served, and then learn to serve—give back—to the community.
