Volunteer Guidelines & Sign Up

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Organic Soup Kitchen! Our volunteers are the backbone of our mission to serve nutritious, organic soup to those in need. We offer three distinct opportunities, and all volunteers are expected to uphold strict confidentiality, professional conduct, and safety standards. 

General Guidelines:

  • Confidentiality: Always protect the privacy of our clients, volunteers, and donors by not sharing any identifying information.
  • Personal Conduct: Treat everyone with courtesy and respect; any harassment or unprofessional behavior is not tolerated.
  • Substance Use: Refrain from using recreational drugs or alcohol on our premises, at events, or with clients.

Background Checks: All volunteers must pass a background check to ensure a safe environment for everyone.

 Delivery Drivers

As a Delivery Driver, you play a vital role in ensuring our soups reach clients reliably.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver organic soups on your designated weekly route.
  • Report missed deliveries or client status changes to the Distribution Coordinator.
  • Assist in training new drivers as needed.

Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license and proof of car insurance.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Commitment to one weekly shift (typically Wednesdays, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.) with a minimum six-month commitment.

Program Volunteers

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with packaging client soups.
  • Label packages accurately for delivery.
  • Provide administrative support to ensure smooth operations.
  • Write thank you letters to our supporters

Requirements:

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and professional conduct.

Kitchen Volunteers

Kitchen Volunteers are key to preparing our organic soups with care and precision.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare ingredients and assist in soup production while following strict food safety protocols.
  • Package soups for timely delivery.
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper sanitation in the kitchen.

Requirements:

  • Ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen environment.
  • Adherence to health and safety guidelines.
  • A respectful and collaborative attitude.
  • A food Handlers License is required
